after reading a few posts I am a little confused(or thick) my V5 states make:-Ford, model:-cortina1300 base, body type:-convertable, cylinder capacity:-1600. As the car is classed as historic vehicle i do not want to rock the boat as zero road tax is a big plus. But is it a spartan or what?
I have the car insured as a spartan on the mot it is spartan but i would like to be sure as in the unfortunate case of a claim could i come unstuck
                    Regards kris

mmm... a tough one to call (sic). Why not fess up to the insurance company your doubts, and they'll sort it?  At least you'll have peace of mind. If your honest with them, there shouldn't be any future "techicalities"that could jeopardize the claim.

HI  I think the answer is a NO. However if your ins.co are happy dealing with it as a convertable and you can get it MOTd ok. fine but the rules were changed some yeas ago to make us conform to the EU directive. Make on log book should match the vehicle. The dodge used by a previous was a common thing. I like lots of others fell foul of these rules when trying to get mine MOTd. I now have a different reg. no. but as I could prove that the original vehiclr was a 1970 vitesse I got an age related no. and kepy my "historic" status.

Hi, i have heard of a few problems like this before and the DVLA are now trying to catch up to these, if it does not say spartan on the V5 and it is a Spartan registered as a Cortina or a triumph the MOT inspector is not supposed to pass it until it is registered as the vehicle it is now, this is a problem as it will have to go through a SVA test to achieve this which will  be difficult and expensive under the new EU rules, that is why a lot of KIT cars are going cheap as they are not registered as what they actually are, so if you have a garage that does not worry to much keep going there.
